As the 100th and 150th graduating classes at MIT, the Classes 1967 and 2017 have shared a special relationship since our freshman year. To cement this relationship, we buried a joint Time Capsule on June 28, 2017 to be opened at our 50th reunion in 2067. The time capsule contains items representive of both classes' times at MIT, showing just how much both MIT and the world have changed in the past 50 years.
The broader goal for the time capsule is to launch a tradition where it is reburied every 50 years, adding new items along the way, which means we'll have to get back to work in 2067! The time capsule is buried in the President's Garden, and a commemorative plaque is located on the exterior wall of building 10 to mark the site. The location is Latitude: 42 21 34.8999999999942, Longitude: -71 5 33.049999999938, Altitude: 1 Smoot.
