1967-2017 Class Connection

Introducing the 1967-2017 Class Connections

Starting this year, the Alumni Association has initiated the Class Connections Campaign, connecting the current Class Council with the Class Council of 1967.  As the 100th and 150th graduating classes, we are collaborating for events to magnify opportunities for both classes, and to jointly help each other and the MIT community.

The first event we did was our Before and After MIT: a Class Connections Event.

This event focused on the fact that as freshmen, it can be difficult to learn career development resources and options that exist at MIT.  We ask: where do we go after graduation?  How can we make a career out of what we are studying?  What if what we are doing now is not what we want to do in the future?  Is it possible for us to do something incredible that can create a significant impact on our society?

To answer these questions, our combined class councils decided to sponsor this speaker event.  The presentations that were made showed us that what you major in doesn’t always end up being your career.  They showed us that we can do extraordinary things that we love and make a difference.  Lastly, they showed us that MIT presents and makes many opportunities for us, and that while our lives may take many unexpected turns, we should embrace these moments, and learn to grow from them.

Our event proved to be very successful, having members from both classes participating, networking, and learning from one another.

We are also working on a public service effort that will tie our classes together for the next three and a half years.  This is our 10,000 Hours Challenge.  To find more out more information about this event please click this link.
